Director Marie Noelle brings a dreamy, impressionistic style to this drama, focusing on Curie’s romantic life and struggles as a woman, rather than dwelling on her scientific advancements.

Bookended by Nobel Prize ceremonies, “Marie Curie” shows the life of Polish-born Curie (Karolina Gruszka) in France between 1905 and 1911. The audience gets a glimpse into her partnership in life and work with husband Pierre (Charles Berling), and then reveals her struggles to be accepted within the male-dominated field. Her relationship with mathematician Paul Langevin (Arieh Worthalter) adds further challenges.

Cont’d.

LINK:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-mini-marie-curie-courage-review-20170629-story.html

Sean Spicer is wrong…and so is the Pressurn:md5:338ffa45275c1cedc22a49415e7fa61a2017-04-16T07:02:00-04:002017-04-16T07:05:45-04:00cguajonEditorialAlemaniaDerechos HumanosEstados UnidosHistoria de la tecnologíaSiglo XX
by Rodrigo Fernos

A few days ago Donald Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer claimed that not even Hitler stooped so low as to use chemical weapons, in reaction to its proven use in Syrian Civil War.

The press’s reaction to that comment was somewhat obvious: the Hitler regime gassed concentration camp prisoners with Sarin. However, it is interesting to point out that Spicer’s principal point—the use of militarized chemical weapons—was not placed into question, thus not really undermining Spicer’s main allegation.

In fact, Hitler came very close to using the worst chemical weapons in a massive bombing of key US cities, such as Washington DC, New York, etc.

You can read more about this story in my book, <ins>From Galileo to Boltzmann: the Fragility and Resilience of Science</ins> (2016).

Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/Galileo-Botzmann-History-Fragility-Resilience/dp/1621378225/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1458796658&sr=1-1
2urn:md5:4d4a4bd2f19f482931bd1d2b649c41072015-04-04T18:15:00-04:002015-04-04T19:58:21-04:00Rodrigo FernosNoticieroColonialModernoPreModernoSiglo XIXSiglo XXSiglo XXI
2
