Secret Files on Puerto Ricans website hacked*

As curious as it might seem, a website containing thousands of documents detailing the persecution of Puerto Ricans in the island has been “hacked”.  More or less.  When you go to the website link (http://www.pr-secretfiles.net/), instead of getting the original page:

    you get an adulterated page:

The page contained the documentation which had been obtained as a result of a request for information by Jose Serrano, a  US Congressman of Puerto Rican origin, under the Freedom of Information Act.

We contacted the “Center for Puerto Rican Studies” department at CUNY, who kindly informed us that the DNS registry was not renewed on time, and purchased by a third party who is apparently unwilling to give up the space.  In simple terms, the web link was compromised, and no other has been established in its place—although there are plants to reestablish the page in the future. (Exact date was not provided.)

It is clear that liberals would to well to obtain greater familiarity with things digital.

That being said, we decided to make available some of the documentation from the page, courtesy of the Internet Archive in a ‘one-stop’ file that can be easily downloaded:

Some links may also be obtained at:

This is not a comprehensive record, as the Internet Archives own files also appear to be corrupt. Although 80 full length PDF binders appear listed, only 25% were actually usable.

We hope the folks at CUNY university’s Center for Puerto Rican studies set up a copy of the original page elsewhere for full documentation viewing. (Make sure you let them know of your interest by sending them an email at:
