Sahara desert dust softens hurricanes

Why are some hurricane seasons worse than others?  Certainly, it has been found that phenomenon such as El Niño and La Niña tend to influence the hurricane season between June and October.  (El Niño decreases hurricane frequency in the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.)  Recently, another factor has been found-Sahara Desert dust.  If the intense Sahara heat generates enormous bubbles of hot air that eventually can become hurricanes, its dust seems to reduce them.  For more information on the topic, refer to.
