Say NO to Rossello: Science cannot thrive under arbitrary leadership

ICTAL considers itself to be an a-political organization whose concerns are solely related to science and technology. However, the current electoral crisis in Puerto Rico has reached such a point, that it cannot help but become involved to prevent the gross intrusions of corruption into the electoral process. The statehood party (PNP) of former Gov. Pedro Rossello, which was so thoroughly characterized by corruption during his las tenure (1992-2000), is also trying to coerce the valid outcome of the election. U.S. District Judge Daniel Dominguez, a judge with close ties to the PNP party, is trying to invalidate a PR Supreme Court ruling by dismissing mixed votes, votes where members of the independence party swung their vote in favor of the commonwealth party. His actions not only falsely suggests a clash of commonwealth and federal powers between the island and the mainland governments, but constitutes an impermissible intrusion of corruption into the U.S. federal government. The video recently posted, which was initially programmed to be broadcast in January 2005, is a harsh critique of the rather unscientific administrative practices of the Rossello administration by a highly respected economist. We do not believe science can thrive under such an arbitrary and irrational administration.
