What telephone service should you chose?

There have recently come out a series of advertisements promoting the company Liberty (cable television) in which a user is trying to connect various services.  He calls one company (cable TV) who ten tells him to call a second company (PRTC), who then tells him to call a third company (DMAX-PRTC).  "Simplify yourself," ends the ad, suggesting a life free of complications upon getting the combined services of telephone, internet, and cable.  The advertisement was very original and funny by the actual complications of these services.  Nonetheless, the reality is very different form what was suggested.  The laws which regulate telephone companies and those which regulate cable television companies are very different--in spite of the fact that they are both generally within the field of 'telecommunications'.  The regulation of cable TV companies (Liberty) is extremely lax; upon having problems with their services you will not be able to go to the Junta Reglamentadora de Telecommunications to complain as you now can with the common and ordinary  telephone services of the PRTC.   Similarly, the division of industries (internet-cabletv-telephone) by companies is a phenomenon highly beneficial to the consumer.  Upon having problems with one company, or if this one has serious technical issues, the three services will not be affected (contrary to what occur if all services were supplied by only one company).  Finally, all services of fixed telephony (traditional) supply their own electrical energy via their telephone lines. Upon having a blackout during hurricane period, you will not loose your telephone service--contrary to the VOIP services promised by Liberty.  It is suggested that all customers consider these points before finalizing their decision.
